When:

• TRAX trains operate from Monday through Saturday, from 5:30AM to 11:15PM. All the details are listed in the Schedules, including peak times, holiday hours, and detours.

Where:

• There are 16 stations running between Sandy and downtown. See the Route Map for station locations.

How Much:

• A one-way fare is $1.75 (effective Jan 2008), and is good for 1 trip within 2 hours of the time the ticket was purchased.
• For $4.50, one can get an all day pass good for unlimited rides on the month and day indicated on the ticket.
• Monthly transit passes, good for unlimited rides for a calendar month.
• Current prices for other passes can be pruchased on TRAX's website.

Safety:

• There are a few articles written and are posted on the TRAX website concerning Safety and the Trains.

  Safety is mostly paying attention to common sense practices, but people do get hurt or killed by not following the rules. Don't stop on the tracks, look both ways, and by all means, don't try to out run an 89,000-pound TRAX car, you will likely lose.

Tips:

• Use it! A round-trip fare is $3.50. Chances are you will NOT find parking downtown for cheaper than that, not to mention the gas and wear and tear on your car and your nerves to get down there.
• Abide by the rules. On one occasion when I rode the train downtown, a rider was issued a ticket, to the tune of $100, for crossing the tracks at a place not designated as an official crossing.
• If you use the train to get downtown for an event where hundreds or thousands of people will be getting out of the event at the same time (such as a concert or sporting event), be prepared to either wait for a train with space, or ride standing and packed in like sardines.
