Devil's Garden, Escalante, UT
Devil's Garden is a wonderful area in the heart of Escalante, Utah's newest National Monument.

Get there by driving south on the "Hole-in-the-Rock Road" about 16.5 miles from Escalante Rte 12. It is signed. It is a fairly small area, with no trails. Just wander around the rock formations and enjoy!

I got there just at sunrise and was able to see the beautifully warm subtle light on the rocks as the sun rose and slowly covered everything with an orange glow. Sunrise or sunset is the best time to see this place! Any season is good, although it's pretty hot in the summer.

One could spend a couple of hours just playing and exploring here, more if you are photographing, or listening to your "inner child".

Besides the delightful rock formations, there are some beautiful patterns to be seen in the sandstone.

Driving along scenic Rte 12 on the way back, the view down into Sand Creek is pretty spectacular!
