Sugarhouse Park Goes to the Dogs
The ninth annual (2004) Strut Your Mutt benefit fair took place as usual at Sugarhouse Park.
This year's (2004) event on May 15 was blessed with gorgeous weather. Procedes went to benefit the
"No More Homeless Pets in Utah" foundation.
Monies were generated in several ways.
Dogs could register (pre-registration was $20, and on the day of the event, it was $25) which would entitle
dog and owner to get into the arena, get samples from vendors and participate in contests.
Dog lovers also contributed to the coffers by collecting pledges.
The arena was lined with vendors selling all sorts of items to pamper your four-legged buddy, from dog
toys to pet photographs to holistic medicine to decadent pet treats.
Contests included a dog/owner look-alike contest, a costume contest, and pet trick contest.
Squatter's Pub, one of the sponsors, gave away frisbees advertising their new imbibement: Golden Tail Ale.
The dog that inspired that drink (the drink's mascot) was at the event.
This was one place where I had a hard time keeping my hands to myself! There were so many tail waggers that
were just too cute not to snuggle.
A good time was had by all. If you missed it this year, be sure to catch it next year. Your dog will love
you for it. Check out the Photo Gallery
